BE YOUR OWN HERO! Join us for Learn to Skate with a Vixen and learn to play or officiate with the best! We focus on basics to prepare you for Derby Orientation!
Information: Learn to Skate sessions will be held from 9 am – 11 am on January 20th, January 27th, and February 3rd at the Westside YMCA (3700 Old Lansing Road, Lansing MI). You’ll learn the basics of skating, including the correct form and important things like how to stop (and how to fall safely!). The vast majority of Vixens did not know how to skate when they started, so we love teaching others how to skate!
Learn to Skate costs $15 at the door.
We have some pads and skates available (let us know your size ahead of time!); all you need to bring is a mouthguard and a great attitude! (We strongly recommend SISU mouthguards — you can find other mouthguards at Meijer or sporting goods stores, etc., but they’re bulky and you’ll hate it and end up buying a SISU eventually anyway, so just go ahead and get one now.) Wear comfortable athletic clothing that isn’t too bulky or baggy, and bring a water bottle!
For more information, or to ask about availability of skates and gear, contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, contact us any time at ljv@lansingderbyvixens for information about our Junior Vixens teams, ages 7-17; we have continuous training for junior skaters!
